Information we collect
We collect information you provide when creating an account, requesting a quote, buying a product, submitting a website-service brief or contacting support. This can include your name, email address, contact and billing details, purchase history, website URL, service instructions and support correspondence. Plugin licensing also records licence details and activated website URLs. Our server and security systems may record IP addresses, browser details and request logs.
Why we use it
We use this information to create and secure accounts, verify email addresses, process and reconcile payments, deliver downloads and licences, provide services, manage renewals and cancellations, respond to support requests, prevent abuse and keep required business records. These activities support our agreements with you, legal obligations and legitimate business interests. Where consent is required, it must be obtained for that purpose.
Payments and website access
Payment details are entered on the payment provider’s secure checkout. Our shop currently uses PayFast; the selected provider is identified before payment. We keep payment references, status and, for authorised recurring purchases, the reusable payment token needed to manage that agreement. Do not send card details, passwords or API secrets in emails or service briefs. We arrange website access separately where needed for a service.
Who receives information
Relevant information may be processed by our payment, hosting, email and other service providers to operate the website and deliver your purchase. Our website notification email uses Google/Gmail SMTP, and the site is hosted on Oracle Cloud infrastructure. Information may be processed outside South Africa; applicable POPIA requirements for cross-border processing remain relevant. We may disclose information where legally required or necessary to investigate fraud or protect rights. We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies and external content
Account sessions, security controls and checkout use cookies or similar browser storage. Third-party content, including Google-hosted fonts and linked platforms, can receive technical connection information. You can manage cookies through your browser; disabling essential storage may prevent login or checkout. Following an external link takes you to a service governed by its own privacy policy.
Retention and security
We retain information needed to operate your account, fulfil purchases, resolve disputes and meet applicable record-keeping obligations. Requests to remove information are assessed against those obligations. We restrict access and use technical safeguards; sensitive reusable payment tokens and service briefs in the shop are encrypted. No internet system can guarantee absolute security.
Your rights and contact
You can ask to access or correct your personal information, request deletion where appropriate, object to applicable processing or withdraw consent where processing depends on it. Some information is necessary to fulfil a purchase, and legal obligations may require retention. Send requests to info@heygeorge.co.za; we may need to verify your identity. Private website analytics
We use first-party analytics to understand public page views, visits, referring website domains, campaign labels and broad device categories. The reports are visible only to the signed-in Hey George owner. We do not use an external analytics service or set analytics cookies. A daily-changing keyed hash of network and browser information estimates visits; raw IP addresses, full browser strings, account emails and licence keys are not stored in the analytics database. These estimates do not identify a visitor by name. Reports cover the last 90 days, and older analytics rows are removed during collection. Account, checkout and download pages are excluded. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals are honoured. You can also opt out on this browser below; this stores only your local privacy preference and does not stop essential account cookies.
